Hi, I’m Kaliym Howell, PMHNP. I’m a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience in inpatient psychiatry and outpatient medication management. I specialize in treating anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma-related conditions, and life transitions using a calm, collaborative, and evidence-based approach. My goal is to provide thoughtful, personalized care that helps you gain clarity, stability, and long-term wellness.
My goal is to help clients uncover their true potential and lead lives worth celebrating. I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology at Elon University and my master's degree in clinical social work at New York University. Additional clinical and training experiences include Mount Sinai Medical Center, Metro Behavioral Health Eating Disorder Centers, and Ackerman Institute for the Family.
I've been working with clients in New York for over 30 years after completing psychoanalytic training. My decades of experience enable me to grasp and appreciate the complexity of the people I work with as I guide them to achieve lasting change. I feel fortunate that I've been able to engage in such an emotionally rewarding profession in which deep human connections are pursued and valued. Also, I specialize in working with adult males seeking change.
Are you looking for a supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered in your care? I’m a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I work with clients facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, mood and personality disorders, substance use, life transitions, and psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on meeting you where you are. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my pets, doing animal rescue and wildlife rehabilitation, and being outdoors to recharge and stay grounded.
I have worked in the field since 2009 and have experience in inpatient psychiatric social work as well as individual and family counseling. Over the past couple of years I have focused my continuing education on trauma-informed care, including EMDR and specifically attachment and somatic based approaches. I am most experienced working with adolescent, adult, and older adult populations.
