I’m Emily Light, a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I completed my nursing and advanced practice degrees with a focus on psychiatric and mental health care, and I’ve worked with individuals across the lifespan dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, and life transitions.
I practice a client-centered approach which offers you a gentle, welcoming and safe place to explore your goals.
I speak Turkish and English and I am very familiar with Islamic, Catholic and Buddhist and Kabbalistic beliefs. I am an immigrant and have lived in the United States since 1994
I am very sensitive to cultural backgrounds. I treat all my clients within their cultural values. That means nobody can hear anything offensive from me. I practice Ahimsa which means no harm in Buddhist belief.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with individuals to help them understand and shift patterns that may be causing stress or conflict. I create a supportive environment where clients can feel safe to explore emotions, improve communication, and build healthier relationships.
I hold a counseling degree from The College of New Jersey. My background includes years of experience in school settings, where I supported students through emotional and behavioral challenges, taught mental health education, and responded to crises. I draw on evidence-based approaches while considering how stress, neurophysiology and early experiences shape each person’s emotional world.
