Hi, I'm Dr. Haley Fox (she/her/hers), an integrally-informed artist/psychotherapist with a PhD in Clinical Psychology, board-certifications in art therapy (ATR-BCCS) and music therapy (MT-BC), and certification as a psychedelic-assisted therapy provider.
I try my best to be a supportive therapist who believes deeply in the strength and resilience of my clients. I believe in creating a nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and validated. I am a social worker with past experience working in hospital settings and crisis intervention. My areas of focus in therapy include perinatal mental health (pregnancy and postpartum support), supporting parents through those tricky toddler years, and helping adults navigate through life changes or stressors. I help many clients who are experiencing anxiety and depressive symptoms. Parenthood can be filled with joy, and also comes with hard moments that force us to take a deeper look at our own values, upbringing, and relationships in ways that we haven't needed to explore in the past. I love to connect with clients and validate how hard this roller coaster of parenthood can be, while also incorporating practical tools to increase levels of supports and reframing thoughts to make life feel a bit more balanced.
Rooted in my graduate training at the University of Rhode Island, I developed expertise in both general clinical and health psychology. I developed a programmatic line of research in health promotion (adoption and maintenance of multiple health behaviors including exercise, smoking cessation and nutritious eating) with a particular focus on exercise motivation as a gateway to adopting other health behaviors.
During my internship and postdoctoral training at VA Connecticut and VA Boston, respectively, my research evolved towards integrating health behavior change (e.g., exercise adoption and maintenance) with veterans suffering from chronic musculoskeletal pain and PTSD. As I learned more about the biopsychosocial model of these medically and psychiatrically complex disorders, my ultimate goal became to help veterans better manage their pain and PTSD symptoms, utilizing health behavior change as a complementary component of their overall treatment program. With this approach, the ultimate goal was to help them improve their overall quality of life and well-being, long-term.
My patient oriented research experience, over the past thirteen years, directly informed my approach to my clinical work with individual patients. In fact, I worked for Newton-Wellesley Eating Disorders and Behavioral Medicine for the past fifteen years. As part of this work, I focused on helping individuals suffering from the full continuum of eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder) to sustain their recovery long-term and achieve "recovery maintenance" through establishment and achievement of additional life goals and to move beyond their "eating disorder" identity to a "whole person" identity to create a more meaningful life post-recovery. Additionally, as part of this practice, I treated patients suffering from anxiety, PTSD, chronic musculoskeletal pain and depression as well as veterans from the community.

I have worked with multiple different populations, across the lifespan. I have been trained in different cognitive based therapeutic modalities, and specialize in trauma treatment. I am currently employed as a Clinical Supervisor in an outpatient mental health clinic, providing direct clinical support to providers and patients.
My journey stems from my own story of resilience in the face of hardships. I became a therapist because I have always wanted to help people through some of their darkest hours. Being exposed to some dark hours myself, I know that it is difficult to do it alone. When you have someone to confide in, assist you through the hard times, and just let you know that you are not alone, makes a difference.
