Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to figure things out alone. I’m Tamara Whittleton, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating stress, anxiety, depression, and major life changes. I focus on creating a supportive environment where clients feel comfortable talking openly while developing practical strategies for growth and healing
I am a social worker and grief counselor, with over 6 years experience working with bereaved clients. I am also a director of mental health education for a grief non-profit, creating programs that educate on loss and grief awareness. While grief is my main focus, I hold a special place in my heart for all life transitions, including job/career changes, spiritual adjustments/abuse, and relationship losses.
Welcome! I am so happy you have reached out for help as I know that is not always easy! I am a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois since 2015 with a bachelors degree in psychology and a masters degree in rehabilitation counseling. I have experience in both mental health and addictions where I’ve helped my clients with communication, stress and anxiety, motivation, self-esteem/confidence, depression, trauma, relationship issues, anger, management, and substance abuse.
I believe quality mental health care starts with feeling heard and respected. I take a collaborative, patient-centered approach and work to understand the whole person, not just symptoms. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space while offering thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care tailored to each individual’s needs.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in adults coping with various mental health disorders including Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Dementia, and Schizophrenia. . I serve clients who are coping with symptoms related to various diagnoses that are often exacerbated by life transitions (i.e., aging, divorce, empty nest, retirement, family dynamics, and health challenges). Many of my clients have found themselves unexpectedly in the role of a caregiver to loved ones coping with chronic health conditions. This adjustment can be both emotionally draining and overwhelming. My goal is to help the individual navigate through these challenges through reflection, learning coping strategies and building or strengthening support networks that will assist in coping with life’s challenges.
